Need help determining which kind of paint to get?

Choosing the right kind of paint for your project isn’t as easy as it seems. If you’re not familiar with paint types and textures, it can be very confusing. However, choosing the wrong paint can have frustrating consequences.

For example, painting the exterior of your house with paint that’s meant for indoor jobs probably won’t last. Interior paint isn’t designed to handle the elements. So after an East Texas heat wave or two, your paint will likely start chipping and peeling.

The good news is our experts are happy to help you find the paint you need for every project.

Here’s a quick overview of which paint textures are best for each job.

Flat and Matte Finish: Flat paints are a great solution for walls or ceilings with minor imperfections such as scratches, bumps, and dents. That’s because these paints absorb light and have no sheen, which means imperfections don’t stand out like they do with higher gloss paints.

Satin & Eggshell: Satin and eggshell paints have a subtle sheen. They don’t hide imperfections very well, but they are easy to clean, which is why people often use them in kitchens, bathrooms, and other high traffic areas.

Semi-Gloss or Gloss: High gloss paints are the easiest types of paints to keep clean. Many people use them in their kitchens and bathrooms. A glossy finish will also highlight and complement other decorative details such as entry doors and crown molding.
